40km/h speed limit starts Monday
Be aware that from next week, the speed limit drops to 40 for every back street in Annandale, Booth Street and Moore Street and most other arterial as part of a wider Transport for NSW push. Johnston St remains as is. Council says it consulted on the move back in 2023 and most respondents wanted a consistent 40 across local streets. You can view the map here: Inner West Council page

Pink/blue lines and yellow areas represent are all 40km/h from next week
Are you happy with Annandale's new 40 speed limit?
New neighbours: Rozelle Bays
This was big news a few weeks back, and it appears I missed it completely. The plan for up to 3,000 homes on the Rozelle Bay foreshore moved to Stage 2 of the NSW unsolicited proposals process on 26 April. The proposal includes a foreshore walk, public open space, and a pedestrian underpass to the new Bays Metro (opening 2032). A minimum 10% affordable housing is committed across the broader Bays West precinct; Rozelle Bay's share is still being negotiated. No public exhibition has opened yet, but we'll flag the day it does so you can lodge a submission. You can review the proposal here: rozellebay.com
Who’s your local legend?
Our recent profile of local legend Kostas got a response I wasn't expecting. Annandale locals have been adding their stories of him: the native plants he handed kids to put in by the canal, the tinnie he kept on hand to pull dogs out of Whites Creek before it was fenced, the Greek biscuit doled out on the morning walk.
It's a reminder that the best stories around here aren't in a council agenda or on a DA portal. They're on your street. If there's a local legend the Troll should be writing about, please reply and tell me, I’d love to profile them.

BEN’S WRAP sponsored by Ben Southwell ,
One of the questions I'm often asked is, where is the best pocket of Annandale? As you can imagine, it’s a hard one to answer honestly. Agents may lean toward sales numbers, but if you ask the locals, the suburb is almost split four ways. North Annandale, the Parramatta Road end, then the east and west pockets within each.
Truthfully, every part has its own appeal, and no one pocket is necessarily better than another. The real value in Annandale has always been the people, the neighbours, the sense of community and the care residents have for the suburb itself.
One thing I can say with confidence, though, is it’s very hard to get an Annandalian to leave Annandale once they’re here.
