Leichhardt Lager launches - but what about us?
Leichhardt Lager officially launched at Wests Tigers’ opening Leichhardt game for the 2026 season. The launch was to celebrate the heritage and history of Leichhardt Oval, and was celebrated on Wayne Pearce Hill by several notable guests, including Mayor Darcy Byrne. You can see Darcy’s video with the lager here.
However, this left me thinking: if Leichhardt has a lager to celebrate it’s history, what if Annandale had an ale to celebrate ours?

Annandale Ale mockup with a side of verge garden
Let me know if you’d drink Annandale Ale and if there’s enough support, I may have to get in contact with Sydney Brewery to get our own.
Would you drink an Annandale Ale?
The state government has opened feedback on it’s new statewide regulatory framework for shared e-bike and micromobility schemes. The draft regulations cover how devices are managed, parked and tracked. They also include reforms for council-controlled go slow or no go zones, mandatory helmets and IDs and better safety standards for speed and power. Readers have let us know how Lime bikes have changed their commutes for the better, however others have expressed concerns around safety and clutter. You can have your say on the new draft rules here.
Annandale ferry mentioned in state parliament
Local MP Kobi Shetty has brought a motion to state parliament calling on the Government to deliver on its commitment to establish a ferry service to Annandale. Kobi cited ongoing congestion from the Rozelle Interchange as reason to fast-track a direct public transport connection into the city. The Government has previously committed to the ferry - the motion is pushing them to follow through. You can see the video here.
Council moves to address concerns on illegal tagging
Following community reports of a rise in tagging, council has passed a motion committing to a harmonised Graffiti Management Policy by June 2026, covering prevention, reporting and removal across the LGA. The motion also reaffirmed support for public art through programs like Perfect Match and legal graffiti walls. The policy review also echoes previous stories of concern about tagging covered by the Troll, so its great to see that council have been listening 🙂 (Item 33, Mar 17 Council Meeting Minutes)
The men’s shed hidden in Jubilee Park

The sheds under the Jubilee Park Viaduct, with the men’s sheds on the left
Have you ever walked past the sheds at Jubilee Park and wondered: what’s in there? Well two of the sheds belong to the Pyrmont, Ultimo and Glebe (PUG) Men’s Shed. Perhaps you know them from their stall at the artisans market or their various that perform in the parks. But what you may not know is how the PUG came to be - which all starts with a boat.

Real Estate
BEN’S WRAP sponsored by Ben Southwell ,
The Sydney market is offering a bit of a reality check. A lift in stock is testing buyer depth, with clearance rates softening and buyers becoming far more selective. We’re seeing people walk away from homes that feel even slightly ahead of where they see value, a sign the balance has shifted, at least for now.
Looking ahead, this may be short lived. As Easter, school holidays and Anzac Day roll through, supply typically tightens, which can help stabilise things.
On the rental side, it’s even tighter. Very little is available, and with a large pool of tenants actively searching, being prepared is key. If you see the right place, it pays to have your application ready before you walk through the door.
