Microplastics concerns at Callan Park
Friends of Callan Park have lodged objections to proposals for plastic grass fields at Balmain Road Sporting Ground and the Waterfront Oval, with public comments open until 9 February. The group says artificial turf risks long term damage to the park’s landscape, heritage and biodiversity, while also raising concerns about heat, chemicals and the loss of open green space for general community use in one of the Inner West’s most heavily used parks. What’s hot and what’s not around town
Last month Jesse S sent me what’s hot and what’s not in Annandale. I love it.

Withering Banksia trees now regrowing next to the Interchange
In a previous issue of the Troll I shared concerns from the community over the withering Banksia trees along the Rozelle interchange. However, I am very happy to report that earlier this week I noticed signs of regrowth. If you have any more information please let me know by replying to this email.

Johnston Street in 1928 vs Now
This week I stumbled across the comparison photo below and was surprised that not much has changed except for the tree growth and the removal of balconies from the front of the North Annandale Hotel and surrounding buildings. Unfortunately, another change to note is the Annandale Royal Theatre where the photo was taken closed in 1960 and was subsequently demolished to make way for the Shell petrol station.
