Leichhardt Oval upgrade plans open for public submissions
Designs for a $40 million refurbishment of Leichhardt Oval have been released, with locals invited to have their say over the next few weeks. The proposal includes upgrades to the existing western grandstand, changes to the seating bowl, a new northern grandstand, and updated facilities across the site. Submissions close Thursday 12 February.
Sydney’s ‘Best Worst Movie’ club
A local club promises to ruin a perfectly good Tuesday night every month with movies so bad they’re funny. This week’s worst movie was ‘Gunslingers’ (2025) starring Nicolas Cage, which brought a record turnout of 50 people. The club is run by Nat on the 3rd Tuesday every month at Nauti Studios in Glebe. Tickets are free, but donations are encouraged. Thanks to Ilona for this suggestion.
A handy app for reporting local issues
A local has flagged the Snap Send Solve phone app as a useful way to report everyday issues around the neighbourhood. It can be used for things like Lime bikes left in awkward spots and other street problems, and reports are sent straight to the right organisation rather than sitting in a council queue. Thanks to Ian C for this suggestion.

Sydney Fish Market’s grand unveil
Sydney’s rebuilt Fish Market has finally opened its doors, but the first day came with heavy crowds and some people turned away after the site hit capacity. Visitors queued along the harbour edge, and even those with restaurant bookings were asked to wait or return later once things settled. (9News)
