Kostas gets a nod in Parliament
The man who turned a strip of bitumen on Whites Creek Lane into a leafy, bird-filled green space has been recognised in state parliament. Our MP Kobi Shetty read a Community Recognition Statement honouring Kostas Kontaxis. If you missed his full story, it's a good one. Well earned, Kostas.

The hunt for a lost iron fence
An Annandale resident wants to pull down the high brick fence out front and put back a traditional cast iron one to match the terraces either side. The catch: council needs historic proof the original was iron. So Jenny asked the FB group, and the neighbourhood is delivering - archive links, tips on the Leichhardt library history room, even the name of a long-time local two doors from Revolver who might just remember. Three Annandale choirs at White Bay
The old turbine hall at White Bay Power Station is an amazing setting, and this Sunday plays host to our own choirs: the Songlarks, the Harmoni Chamber Choir and the Adult Glee Club. They’ll join 14 groups for the free Sing Out festival, 11am to 5pm. Gospel, folk, a-cappella and more. Can you say electric? Full details are on the festival page here.
Belinda's pop-up on Parra Rd
Troll reader Belinda Nadile wrote in about a new pop-up she's opened on a space on Parramatta Rd. "I've just recently curated a sweet pop up shop featuring vintage and preloved clothing, ceramics and original art," she wrote, hoping it "brings its own spark to Parramatta Rd." It’s open on Saturdays 2-6pm and Sundays 10-3pm, preview video here
