The feedback on last week's tradie list was good: enough that I've given it a permanent home – find it at the bottom of every email (so a recommended local trade is only ever a scroll away). I've also bulked it out with a few verified locals who come with real reviews and who service Annandale.
One of the best yarns is Tom's from Major Tom's Gardening, who started again from scratch last August and lives near Cohen Park. His journey is well worth a read down the bottom of this email (and he's doing a free consult for Troll readers).

The case of the broken flower pot
Spotted a lovely one doing the rounds on Facebook and it's worth a click. A Ferris St local came home to find a handmade card and a box of flowers waiting for them, left by a young Millie. Turns out Millie had clipped their hanging pots while riding past on her bike, knocking the soil and plants out. Rather than pedal off, she carefully scooped it all back in, then came back with fresh blooms and a beautifully drawn apology card. (Source: Annandale 2038 FB Group)
Cherry Moon does it again
Nine months on from being named one of Sydney's best cafes, Cherry Moon General Store on Nelson St has landed another gong. This time it's Good Food, whose Best Cafes and Bakeries of 2026 gives the wood-fired bakery a nod for its pistachio and rose doughnuts and that oft-loved cherry pie. A few Rozelle and Balmain spots made the cut too, but Cherry flew our flag. Win. (Source: Annandale 2038 FB Group)
Humans of Annandale?
A while back we asked who your favourite local character was, and the suggestions keep landing. Mickie's interview went down a treat last week, so we're hungry for more. Next week it's Tan from Revolver Cafe in the hot seat - and after that, who knows I’m keen to chat to the characters, the celebs, the miracle-workers, the business owners. Got someone in mind whose story deserves telling? Point me their way.
Leichhardt's big builds begin
Lots is happening down at the Leichhardt side of the bay run. The diggers are in on the new 50m and 25m pools at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre, and council has broken ground on the Callan Park Tidal Baths - the first new harbour swim spot in the Inner West in more than a century, since the Dawn Fraser Baths opened back in 1882. And there's more near Le Montage, where council is planning a new pontoon to replace the old timber wharf that's been closed for safety - a bigger deck, a kayak landing and an accessible ramp. One of the great things about spending every day talking property is hearing what people love most about Annandale. Ask ten locals where the suburb's best pocket is, and you'll probably get ten different answers. Some wouldn't live anywhere but near Booth Street, others love the peace around Whites Creek, while plenty swear by the pockets bordering Camperdown, Rozelle or Leichhardt. The funny thing is... they're probably all right. Every corner of Annandale has its own personality, and that's exactly what makes this suburb so special.
